SPORTS & OUTDOORS coast golf update tournament winners announced

are the 2017 Slavic Invitational Champions, winning in a dramatic one-hole playoff at Fallen Oak Golf Course. Lampley and Speirs defeated 2016 champions George Byrd and Nick Beale to claim the trophy in the 43rd annual golf tournament.
More than 1,000 golfers competed on six local golf courses that
included Diamondhead Pine and Cardinal courses, Windance Country Club, Grand Bear Golf Club, Sunkist Country Club and Fallen Oak.
The annual golf event, held September 29 – October 1, had a
$2 million economic impact on
the Coast and is known as “the largest best-ball golf tournament in America.”
