BLOODLINES: MATT STEBLY OCT 12, 2019 – MAY 2, 2020
The goal of the program is to create a place in the festival where kids have
a chance to showcase and sell their art. This gives them an opportunity to experience what it’s like to be an artist at the festival. Youths ages 8 through 18 are invited
to set up on the front lawn of WAMA at 510 Washington Ave.

YOUNG AT ART
The Peter Anderson
Arts & Crafts Festival is not just for adults. The Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau has partnered with the Walter Anderson Museum of Art (WAMA) for a fifth year
to offer the Young at Art opportunity.
Young at Art is set up only on Saturday of the festival. The kids are responsible for their hand made goods and table displays. Those under 15 need to be accompanied by an adult. Students must apply at www.peterandersonfestival.com

to re-invent itself like nature does.” Last April the museum re-installed
and re-interpreted the Anderson family collection.“It is a way to tell a more expansive story about what Walter Anderson did,” Rankin said. “The museum is not a static thing. We see art as a way to activate the community and bring art off the walls.”
There are always things happening within and outside WAMA.“I’m excited about the energy here,” he said.“We do things outside the walls of the museum and partner with other groups.”
The museum staff and board of directors are planning a signature fundraiser for May 4, 2020 – The Party Your Imagination Would Throw. It will coincide with the well-known gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.“This event will be high fashion with a coastal
vibe; bringing the natural world alive,” Rankin said. “There will be things such as bird masks. It’ll be different and new and encourage people to use their imaginations.”
The official press launch to tell the public about the new event will be in January.
