For the second time, the March of Dimes will have an unusual fundraiser, The Farmer & The Chef.
It takes place November 3, 6 p.m., at the Golden Nugget Casino.
“The premise of this event is simple — pair local farmers with local chefs,” said Jennifer Parker, March of Dimes director for South Mississippi. “Not only is this an exciting fundraiser, it’s also a way
to create sustainable relationships between local farmers and chefs. Reinforcing the movement that eating healthy is extremely important to the March of Dimes, furthering our mission of promoting healthy eating for pregnant women.”
The event will feature local farmers who will provide chefs with their products to prepare a four- course meal for attendees.
John Pappas, M.D., will be honored as the Physician of the Year. A graduate of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, he is
a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist and is associated with The Woman’s Clinic of Gulfport. He has practiced more than 20 years.
