GULF COAST CENTER FOR NONVIOLENCE
TO HOST 8TH ANNUAL
story by Lynn Lofton
The Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence will host its
8th annual Moonlight Masquerade on October 22 at The Redding House, the historic Biloxi home of Mississippi native Charles Walter Redding. The Redding House provides the perfect haunted backdrop for this year’s Halloween theme, Howling at the Moonlight Masquerade. Suzanne Guice is serving as chairman.
The event features entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvres, complimentary drinks, silent auction and a bit of haunted mischief.
“Funds raised through Moonlight Masquerade support Center programs such as 24/7 assistance through its crisis hotline; emergency shelter for domestic violence victims and their children; 24/7 advocacy at the emergency room for sexual assault victims; individual and group counseling for loved ones of homicide victims; a therapeutic preschool; and free civil legal services for victims through the Northcutt Legal Clinic,” said Sandra K. Morrison, executive director.
Event tickets are $60.00 per person. Attire is Halloween costumes. Sponsorships are available starting at $250 up to $2,500.

“The Best Way to See Europe” is at Coast Episcopal School’s annual Toast to the Coast on October 21, 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. This year’s event will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jan van Meerveld at 635 East Scenic Drive, Pass Christian.
“For more than three decades this event has been a great party for a great cause,” said Melissa Brown, development and marketing director for the school. “We want people to know that corporate sponsorships are a big part of our scholarships and other contributions go into our programs and back into the community.”
For this European journey each tent will represent a different country. For example, the restaurant tent is Spain; the children’s art tent is Holland; the beer garden is Germany; and the live auction is Paris, France. “As you
exit at the end of the party, there will be a welcome to the USA sign,” Brown said.
The children’s art gallery showcases art from 4, 5, and 6 graders, and the invitational art show celebrates adult Gulf Coast artists.
There will be more than 30 restaurants, an open bar, silent auction
which opens online on October 14, and music by D Play. The party is black tie optional.
