1948 cottage in Bay St. Louis shows its potential
story by Lynn Lofton photos by Janice Hall
The 16-month renovation of a home in Bay St. Louis has yielded stunning results that are a far cry from the plain rectangular box the owners purchased. Initially drawn to the beautiful large corner lot, Adriana and Harry Slick saw potential in the 1948 cottage. However, their creative touch was not confined to the house. They’ve also worked their magic on the lush grounds where there are several registered Live oaks and many green and flowering shrubs. They even planted 50 additional azaleas.
“I fell in love with Bay St. Louis and wanted to move here,” Adriana said. “I like the independent women here, and people are incredibly nice.”
Her first look at the Hancock County town came while on a trip to New Orleans when Harry wanted to show her where he lived as an employee of Casino Magic. Adriana’s background includes working in finance in New York. Both are retired now and share their home with three dogs. >>
