Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge
                  As fall unfolds, Coastal Mississippi offers an ideal setting for outdoor enthusiasts to explore its abundant hiking and nature trails. Although the destination is known for its mild climate, making it perfect for outdoor activities year-round, the fall season adds a special charm to the Coast with cooler temperatures that complement its serene landscapes.
The Tuxachanie National Hiking Trail, located in the De Soto National Forest, is one of the standout trails recommended for the avid explorer. This 13.8-mile trail takes hikers through longleaf pine forests, pitcher plant savannas, and cypress swamps, offering diverse ecosystems to explore. It’s a favorite for those looking to experience the beauty of Mississippi’s natural landscapes up close.
For a Coastal experience, the Gulf Islands National Seashore offers several trails, including those in the Davis Bayou Area. These trails provide scenic views of the Coastal marshes, bayous, and wildlife making them excellent spots for birdwatching and photography.
