Waking up is hard when you’re so relaxed; however, the anticipation of a new day and new adventures calls to us. As we start our morning drive into Harrison County, we come upon the city of Pass Christian. It’s a tiny beach town rooted sternly in yacht sailing history. It’s affectionately called “The Pass” by waterfront locals, but it’s also widely known as “The Birthplace of Yachting in the South.” The richly nautical historic town is a prevalent sailing destination and was even a favorite yachting spot of President Theodore Roosevelt! And it should come as no surprise that the town has one of the most stunning harbors on the Coast, only to be highlighted by quirky, island-style eateries, beautiful beaches, elite charter fishing, and a carefree, friendly local vibe.
If The Pass was not “yar” enough for you sailors, perhaps we can entice you with the picturesque Coastal perch that is Long Beach. This city has quickly become an ideal spot for a serene getaway with bicycle-friendly streets, an array of seaside eateries, and one of Mississippi’s most famous historical landmarks – the Friendship Oak. Considered the oldest tree in the Magnolia State, legend has it that those who seek shade under the branches of the 500+-year-old tree will remain friends their entire lives.
