Country and bluegrass music fans will want to pay attention to this: Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs is coming to WATERVIEW CASINO HOTEL, May 26. A talented musician who plays not only mandolin, but also fiddle, guitar and banjo, Skaggs will be performing with Kentucky Thunder. No doubt this will be a wonderful concert and a great way for the Vicksburg casino to celebrate its seventh birthday.
And while Skaggs is the real deal, there are several concerts that pay tribute to headliners that most likely won’t be playing casinos anytime soon. Not too long ago we saw Rock Show NOLA — An Evening of Journey at HARD ROCK Biloxi. Sure, they weren’t the actual ’80s super group, but they guys on stage as part of Rock Show NOLA did a wonderful job with the music and the audience loved them — we were all singing along throughout the whole performance. In Vicksburg this month, AMERISTAR CASINO HOTEL has Red, a Taylor Swift tribute show, and Ozzmosis, a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. Check out the entertainment listings for details.
We share some news in this issue about a few restaurants that recently opened. It’s no secret casinos have a lot of good food, and this time of year, one of the more popular items is one of our favorites. Some call them crayfish, others call them mudbugs, and still others call them crawfish. No matter what name they go by, we call them delicious and are happy to note their return. Take TREASURE BAY, for example. The Biloxi resort has boiled crawfish on its buffet for lunch and dinner every Wednesday. And now, at Agua, the pool bar and grill, a crawfish boil takes place each Saturday. Get a platter with crawfish, smoked sausage, boiled potatoes and corn on the cob for $18.
At HOLLYWOOD CASINO GULF COAST, crawfish are back on the Epic Buffet Wednesday through Friday nights and all day on Saturday and Sunday. And for those in Vicksburg, WaterView’s third annual crawfish boil is set for May 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For $25, get all-you-can-eat crawfish, two beers and $5 in FreePlay.
Another casino also has an update on one of their restaurants. At BALLY’S VICKSBURG, Southern Bites has a new breakfast menu and new Blue Plate Specials. Served daily from 11 a.m. to closing, there is fried chicken, pork chops and country fried steak, just to name a few items. Everything is made fresh, and as the name says, it is the perfect place for a Southern bite.
Restaurants aren’t the only things expanding across the state. Bok Homa Casino, part of Pearl River Resort, broke ground on a new construction project recently. Located in Sandersville, Mississippi, Bok Homa’s 7,000-square-foot expansion will feature a 60-seat restaurant and a Sportsbook lounge that is separate from the gaming floor. Work is expected to be finished in time for Bok Homa Casino’s lucky number 13th anniversary in December.
GULFPORT — Drive away in style with two chances to win in the Mercedes Giveaway at Island View Casino Resorts. Two luxury cars will be awarded, and players club members are earning entries now for a chance to win.
During the giveaways, set for Friday and Saturday, May 26-27, one finalist will be selected every 30 minutes from 4 to 9:30 p.m. to win $500. At 10 p.m. each night, all 12 finalists will return to find out who will win the new vehicle. On May 26, the prize is a Mercedes C Class, and on May 27, someone will win a Mercedes EQE all-electric luxury sedan. Both car winners will also get $3,000 in cash or have the option to take
$50,000 in Slot View Play. The second-place winners walk away with $5,000, while
third place wins $1,000.
Earn entries through casino play, with 10-times entries
offered on select Wednesdays and Saturdays in May; 25-times entries are offered May 26-27; and 50-times entries awarded on Thursday, May 25.
Following the giveaways, players can multiply their points by 10 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Island View Casino and Beach View Casino. Video poker and Game King games are excluded.

HANCOCK COUNTY — Players at Silver Slipper Casino Hotel are spinning and winning. The spinning takes place on the Wheels of Winners, and the winning includes thousands in cash and Free Slot Play.
