Winner takes home $245,225
Ante up for table game progressive jackpots

MISSISSIPPI — The progressive jackpot at the Blazing 7s Blackjack table was climbing slowly. Player after player hoped to get the right number of 7s in the required suit needed to get that jackpot. And then, when the jackpot was more than $245,000, the almost unimaginable happened. It hit and a lucky winner received a check for $245,225.
The table games area at Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort where the jackpot was won was brimming with excitement that night. “We are thrilled that someone won such a life-changing jackpot,” said Angela Black, director of gaming operations. “Everyone was very excited, especially the guests that witnessed it. Everyone was congratulating (the winner) and sharing in the celebration.”

Since both winners made the correct side bet, they not only won their hands, but also the progressive jackpot.

“Always make sure to understand the rules and requirements of a specific game before playing,” Black advises. The betting spaces are clearly marked, but if a player is not familiar with the game, the progressive bet could get lost. Don’t be afraid to ask the dealer or pit personnel for
help.

it resets to its starting amount, which is generally very generous — another reason to make the progressive bet every time instead of just waiting until it is very high.
The size of the progressive does not affect the odds of hitting the jackpot, Black said. “Each hand is independent, so whether the progressive is high or low, the odds remain the same. However, the higher the progressive, the more players play, creating a more exciting and competitive atmosphere.”
Black’s last piece of advice: “Always play the progressive. You never know when the cards will land in your favor and playing the progressive could be the difference in being paid $15 or $245,000.”
